Ai Ai Captain!

He is undoubtedly one of the most versatile and precocious actors that walk today. It was a miracle that gifted him such fame and wealth before he was a druggie and an accepted servile. Today there is a Hollywood walk of fame by his name. More than decades ago he was a ballpoint-pen salesman. A dropout from school, pursuing to be a rock musician at the age of 15. Also his parents separated that time. But things did not turn out to be as he amorously wished. A true rebel by heart, a byproduct of listening to rock music! Tried out a few garage-bands but even that to no avail. A visit to Los Angeles, California made his life. He was achieved acclaim and reverence from every corner of the globe. Under his belt he has got 41 films and another 4 coming the next year. In some of these he was involved in the making. Thrice he has been nominated as the Academy Award for best actor. This year he has won Golden Globe Award fro best actor. Enough foreplay, he is none other than John Christopher Depp aka Johnny Depp.

Johnny Depp was born on the 9th of June 1963, Owensboro, Kentucky, USA. He was raised in Florida. He had a family of six members his parents, a brother and two sisters. At age 12 he was given a guitar by his mother. Depp started to have dreams of becoming a musician from an early age and he used to play guitar in garage bands. He is a passionate fan of The Rolling Stones and a Gypsy group called Taraf de Haidouks. In fact his Jack Sparrow character in Pirates of the Caribbean is a mimic of Keith Richards from The Rolling Stones. When his parents split in 1978 he was only 15. After a year he dropped out from school as he stepped out to become a rock musician. Then he was involved in a band which was called The Kids who experienced moderate local success.

In 1983 he got married to Lori Anne Allison. This was the time Depp had the profession of a telemarketer of a ballpoint-pen. Later his wife would introduce him to another silver screen luminary Nicolas Cage who sincerely asked him to pursue acting. So in 1984 Johnny Depp made his debut in a horror film called A Nightmare on Elm Street. But shortly after, Depp and Allison would divorce in 1985. In 1987 Depp would attract attention from getting involved in this series called 21 Jump Street. Later in 1990 he was placed in the leading role of a Tim Burton movie called Edward Scissorhands.

He was on the ride as he started to expose himself in more films. Some of his highly remarkable films are Donnie Brasco, Fear and loathing is Las Vegas, Sleepy Hollow, THe Ninth Gate, Chocolat, From Hell, Blow, Fining Neverland, Pirates of the Caribbean, Secret Window and many others. This year Sweeney Todd won him the Golden Globe Award for best actor. He is seen here as an erratic as well as eccentric barber with anguish and severe vendetta as he ruthlessly murders people. I have never seen anyone do weird characters better than this man. He is so good at it!

Johnny Depp is a close friend of ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante. He inspired John to record his first solo album and he has also made a documentary of John’s life called ‘Stuff’. He also appeared to play guitar with the British band Oasis. Depp currently plays in band called ‘P’. Also he happens to be friend of the ever weird and repugnant rock star Marilyn Manson. Rock stars have considerable impact on his movie characters. Like aforementioned, his character as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of Caribbean is a mimic of guitarist Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones. On Once Upon A Time In Mexico, he wrote the music called ‘Sands’ which was his theme music.

Depp is a fugitive from the media. He tries to avoid media exposures as much as he can. He once got in a fight with paparazzi in London and was arrested. When not filming he goes to France where he has his singer/actress wife Vanessa Paradis and his children Melody and Jack. Other than France he also resides in Los Angeles when he has filming to do.
